TFMA is an organization of professionals involved in floodplain management, flood hazard mitigation, the National Flood Insurance Program, flood preparedness, warning and disaster recovery. TFMA was established in 1988 and is the largest chapter of ASFPM. TFMA has pioneered the professional certification of local floodplain managers and is in the forefront of efforts to increase the educational opportunities and professional skills of the states floodplain management professionals.
